Dear Pearl,
I was blushing at the nomination but proudly accepted this award in your honor, recognizing all the work I do for our community—especially with this nonprofit, which is such a huge part of my life. Balancing this with a husband and four kids makes this award even more meaningful, showing my family what’s possible and inspiring them through action.
Ironically, when my name was called for the Volunteer of the Year award, I was at Lake Mead with my family, celebrating a double birthday. As much as it pained me to miss the gala at Murrieta Hot Springs Resort, my friends sent photos of my name on the big screen. We all sang “Happy Birthday” and raised a glass to family—the true heart of everything I do.
Thank you for nominating me and for this honor. Though Heather said there’s no sash, she assured me she wouldn’t stop me from making my own!
