About the Murrieta Train Project

All Aboard: Join us in our community movement to bring a train to Murrieta!

Yes, a TRAIN!

UPDATE: LOCATION REVEAL COMING IN 2025!!!!

Yes, it’s a real train! And we’ve been told “of course you had to pick the BIGGEST one, didn’t you?” And the answer is YES, yes we did! We have BIG plans, and that required more than just a caboose!

This dining car is nearly 90 feet long and has a cool history, but the coolest part is that it’s been donated to us to move to Murrieta and open as our city’s first cultural arts center. Yes, from within a train.

So…this “Murrieta Train Project” initiative aims to serve the community of Murrieta, California and other surrounding areas by working with local organizations to relocate a historic dining train car to our hometown and open to the public as our city’s first cultural arts center – a place for family history, local history, and community art. One part museum, one part workshops, and one part you-name-it!

Establishing itself as Murrieta’s first cultural arts center, we plan to use the train to serve as our public center. We HAVE A NEW location that has historic significance to host our train car cultural arts center.

Working within the city bounds of Murrieta and in conjunction with the Southern California Railway Museum, our local railway museum in Perris, we have a shared vision and plan of how to bring this dream to life to benefit our community.

(SPOILER ALERT: IT INVOLVES A CRANE AND TWO HAULERS)

With plans already in place and OFFICIAL agreements in the works, we are currently seeking funds to help cover the cost of site prep ($15-$25k) and relocating a train car to Murrieta ($50k), along with related expenses ($25k) including ADA compliance and refurbishments.

Our goal is raise $100,000 in donations and grants to cover the expenses of this project entirely so that when we open the doors to the public we can keep admission and workshop fees minimal and keeping accessible to the community. Local partnerships with businesses have already promised $50,000 in services towards the planning phase of this project and we are grateful for this foundational support that’s allowed us to have a plan to follow!

Thanks for supporting the #MurrietaTrainProject!
